Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day. This morning, the girl I've been dating caught me eyeing this dry vomit-covered tree as we walked past.

Girl: Oh no. Are you going to put that in your blog?
Me: It crossed my mind.
Girl: Gross.
Me: Something about green not being the only color for St. Patrick's Day.
Girl: Orange is actually one of the colors. It's for Northern Ireland.

Comments:
It's for the Northern Irish Protestants... I almost wore some orange on St Patrick's Day myself. Then I realized that I would get pummeled. Then I realized there aren't all that many IRA members (current or former) in Tucson.

To be fair, most of the people wearing green on St. Patrick's Day deserve to be pummeled (and my great-great-uncle wrote the Irish Proclamation of Independence of 1916). And I think anyone who actually knew what the orange meant would probably also take a moment to ask you if you were wearing orange on purpose before taking a swing.

Irish, Northern Irish... they're so polite, even in fist-fights.
